Understanding and Estimating Value.

  1. People Do Not know about the scrap or salvage value of the car since it is totally different from resale.
  2. You Become Confused what the car was originally worth with what’s it’s worth now as scrap. You cannot make your own price by just looking at the original worth of the car, because it has become scrap.
  3. Most People do not know, and they learn the hard way, that Scrap Value is largely weight based, which is tied to current metal pricing.
  4. The Salvageable Parts like Engine, Transmission, Catalytic Converter, Electronics are priced separately from the metal itself. Because these are Salvageable Parts they can be sold to someone else if they are working properly.
  5. Most People Ignore it, but the Make, Model and part demand affect the Final Number. A car from a well-known brand is likely to get more offers than a brand that is hardly known.

Market and Pricing Transparency

Scrap Metal Prices Fluctuate Regularly, so a quote from last month may not apply because the market is not stable; it changes rapidly.

Most of the Buyers do not properly explain how they arrive at their number. They do not explain what the current metal pricings they have applied, they do not clearly calculate the Salvageable parts value because they want to gain maximum profit from you because you do not know many about Junk Cars Market.

There are some websites in the market that let you generate an instant quote using their tools. It seems fast and good, but the problem is that the tools do not match the final and real-life offer. It just does Calculations based on the Programs they insert into the tool, so it is not the convenient way to get offers.

Deceptive and Unfair Pricing Tactics

Most Buyers start with a low-ball initial offer, so they can negotiate their way to their desired offer. The First offer they provide feels uncertain and irrelevant, but it is one of their tactics to get you trapped in the offer they like and wanted.

Now if the offer is made on the phone call, when they come to inspect the junk car, their offer drops because they think your car is less in value than the offer they have provided. These Tactics are mostly used to fool the seller.

They Give Vague Condition Adjustment without explaining them clearly, they say that this part of the car is not working so I will cut this amount of money from the offer, they do not tell why the part is not working, is this part fixable, what is the actual value of the part, how important this part is to the car. Without answering these questions, they cut money from thinking air.

If you meet a buyer of the junk car and they provide verbal offers instead of written ones to run away from that person immediately, the reason they provide verbal offers is because there are chances to change that number later.

Hidden Costs Disguised as Pricing Issues.

  • The Cost of towing is quietly factored into lower quote instead of disclosing it separately.
  • Sometimes there are distance-based deductions that are not explained upfront.
  • Uncertainty about whether GST/HST or other charges affect the final payout.
  • Some time they say that the towing is free but when they arrive, they start to bargain about the distance they have covered to pick up the car, they even say that the free towing was for people who are closer to our locations without mentioning this the first time.

Condition Specific Valuation Confusion

  • Rust or Corrosion deduction applied without clear standards or applications.
  • Missing Title or Ownership documents that are used to justify the low offer.
  • Missing keys, fire damages, or flood damages will affect the price in ways sellers could not understand.

Seller Knowledge Gaps

  • The Seller does not know that they can and should ask for written breakdown of the quote.
  • Not Realizing that they should compare multiple offers before accepting one.
  • They assume that negotiation is not appropriate for junk cars.
